How this works — Investor-Validated Framework
Demand Signal → UK Problem → Offer → Channel → Defensibility → Revenue Logic → Scoring
Every idea starts with a real UK demand signal — an ONS indicator, a specific piece of UK legislation, or a search breakout. Each is then scored across four dimensions: regulatory urgency (is there a hard deadline or mandatory compliance event?), willingness-to-pay (will customers pay without hesitation?), defensibility (can you hold the position?), and demand durability (will this still exist in 3 years?). Ideas backed by specific UK legislation score highest. Consumer trend ideas without a clear moat are penalised. Confidence scores are deliberately honest, not optimistic. From April 2026, regulatory and compliance-backed ideas score a structural demand bonus: legislative requirements do not fade like consumer trends, and compliance complexity creates a natural moat. Trend-only consumer ideas are penalised unless strong durable evidence and a believable moat can be demonstrated.

Side Income From What You Already Do
A deliberately different category. These ideas score lower on this site’s main methodology — no regulatory urgency, no legislative deadline — but they pass the same demand and feasibility gates as every other idea here: a real UK customer, a clear payment mechanism, and honest numbers. The moat is your existing skill and your presence inside communities of enthusiasts who already spend money on what they love. Use the Hobby Businesses cluster filter in the Explore section below to sort and compare these ideas against the full dataset.
